Hello Durhamville and North Broad 3rd Grade Recorder Rockstars!
Below are videos to play along with the music you brought home in our recorder packets.
Remember, we are DE-CODING two things!
Below are videos to play along with the music you brought home in our recorder packets.
- Remember, our LEFT HAND is on top, right hand is on the bottom!
- Soft air, no overblowing!
- Cover the holes with the "squishy" part of your finger.
Remember, we are DE-CODING two things!
- PITCH, which is the note/letter we are playing, that we decode by looking at the LINES and SPACES on the staff. We started with B, A, and G, and have added C and D!
- RHYTHM, which is how long or short to hold the note, that we decode by looking at the note itself (Filled in with a line? It's a Quarter Note! Just the empty circle with no line? Whole Note!)

This is a new website I am exploring that has games related to the recorder. It aligns with our Recorder Express booklet that the students brought home with their recorder, and lets them learn through playing a game. It looks like you need updated Adobe Player, and a device that supports the flash player version:
