6th Grade All-County Chorus Info and Practice Tracks
Overview
All-County Choral Festivals provide an opportunity for young singers to collaborate with students from schools who participate in the MCMEA All-County events. Students in grade 6 will audition for their teacher (Mrs. Phoenix-Heart), and if chosen, will participate in the All-County Festival in January.
Audition Process
Students in grade 6 will audition for their teacher (Mrs. Phoenix-Heart) during the month of October. Auditions happen during regular chorus rehearsal. Oneida is given a specific number of slots they are allowed to fill, and students are chosen based on that number. A letter of congratulations will be sent home, and will include rehearsal dates that will help the students prepare in the weeks prior to the festival.
PLEASE NOTE: By auditioning, students are committing to participating in the festival. Please do not audition if you are not available for the festival dates.
All-County Festival
The All-County Festival is a two-day event, with rehearsals Friday evening from 5-8, Saturday morning 9-1, and a concert Saturday afternoon. The festival location rotates every year. This year we will be hosting the January festival here at Oneida High School! Dates are January 18th & 19th. Students must be present both days in order to participate in the concert. A packet of information will be sent home about two weeks before the festival, detailing items such as food availability/cost, exact rehearsal times(including breaks/lunch break), and school homeroom #'s.
Additional Questions
Please contact Mrs. Phoenix-Heart with any and all questions! All-County can be confusing, especially if this is your first experience with it, so all questions are good questions!
