Make a Music Shaker out of Toilet Paper Rolls!

Do you find you have lots of extra toilet paper rolls right now?
Why not use them to make a homemade music shaker!

What You'll Need:
  • Empty toilet paper roll(s)
  • Paper (cardstock or construction paper works best)
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Crayons, markers, or colored pencils
  • Pencil
  • Dried beans, rice, or grain (that won't mold)

Step 1
  • Take your paper, and mark the length of the TP roll on each side
  • Fold along the marks and cut out
  • Wrap around the TP roll, and cut any excess
  • Be sure to leave some overlap

​Step 2
  • Trace the end of the TP Roll twice on extra paper
  • Cut out the two circles
  • Have a handful of dried beans/rice ready

Step 3
  • Color/Decorate the two end pieces and the main wrap piece

Step 4
  • Tape one circle end piece on to the TP roll, using one piece of tape
  • Line up the end piece, and add a second piece of tape
  • Add two more pieces of tape, at a diagonal to the first two
  • Flip the TP roll over, and add the beans/rice

Step 5
  • Tape the other end piece to the TP roll (tape criss-cross, then diagonally)
  • Line up one edge of the outer wrap onto the TP roll, and tape securely
  • Bring the wrap around the whole roll, and neatly tape the other end
  • Carefully trim any paper overhang on each end

  • Shake away! :-)
